Full Description
Scale: 1:12

These unique crafts were used as transport vessels to carry goods to the shall hamlets and villages along the shore as roads were non-existent. Many were used to transport peat, used as a fuel, from one area to another. Recent years has seen the restoration and rebuilding of these crafts and it is nice to see them racing for a pint of the black stuff.
Note the massive tumblehome and fine entry and exit which makes these crafts such a pleasure to sail. Their solid construction has meant that they have survived unchanged.
A cargo of Peat fitted to the main hold makes this watertight in the model and the radio gear is fitted within a sub-box within the hold. The aft steering cockpit has been made self-draining so the model can be sailed without fear of sinking if heeled over. All ballast is inside.
